Participate in Trials

Do you have a mobility challenge?

We’re looking for people with gross motor impairment and/or a neurological diagnosis, who are unable to walk easily or comfortably, to participate in a research study that will help us build the next generation of wearable mobility solutions.

Background

The Cionic Sleeve is worn on the legs to measure how muscles behave and how the body moves. This Sleeve communicates to a cell phone or tablet using Bluetooth technology and is capable of stimulating muscle contractions (manually or algorithmically) that may enhance exercises and walking.

Study Purpose

The purpose of this study is to gather information about how the body moves in order to develop new wearable tech-enabled clothing to help individuals with impacted mobility of the lower extremities.

Ideal Candidates

In order to qualify, you must:

  • Be an adult aged 18-70
  • Live with a lower extremity impairment that makes walking difficult and/or uncomfortable
  • Be capable of sitting, standing, and walking with assistance or independently
  • Be able to walk at least 50 feet with assistance or independently
  • Be able to understand and follow basic instructions in English
  • What to Expect

You will visit our Bay Area research site (future sites coming soon), and we will secure wearable units to your legs and/or feet. We may ask you to sit, stand, walk for 2-minute increments on a treadmill, walk 10 meters across the room, or perform some simple stationary exercises like toe and calf raises.

The entire process will take between 1-2 hours and you will be compensated for your participation.

    Safety & COVID Precautions:

Your safety is our primary concern and we have implemented a safety and sterilization protocol in response to COVID-19. This includes:

  • Pre and Post cleaning to disinfect all surfaces, common areas, and testing space
  • Pre and Post cleaning to disinfect the Cionic Sleeve, chairs, and railings (everything you would touch as a participant)
  • The number of people allowed at the research site will be limited
  • All people entering the site will be asked about any recent COVID exposures

  • Your privacy is important to us. We don’t share your personal information with anyone.
