The Cionic Neural Sleeve is worn on the leg to measure how muscles behave and assist in how the body moves. It is the first system to combine sensing, analysis, and augmentation, delivering Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) to the four major muscle groups of the leg. The Cionic Neural Sleeve communicates to a cell phone or tablet using Bluetooth technology, and is capable of stimulating muscle contractions (manually or algorithmically) that may enhance walking and muscle conditioning.1
This is a study to investigate whether stimulation assisted activity provided by the Cionic Neural Sleeve can delay muscle atrophy compared to unstimulated activity in those with knee osteoarthritis.

The study will require you to wear the Cionic Neural Sleeve on your most impacted leg while engaging in exercises and walking. You will follow a progressive program of exercises and walking that will be monitored by the Cionic Neural Sleeve. Throughout the study, you will make 3 visits to the CIONIC lab in San Francisco, where we will test your lower limb strength, ask you to walk for 10 meters at a time, walk for 6 minutes at a time, and answer some questionnaires. Each lab visit may take up to 90 minutes in duration.
Your participation in the study is expected to take 12 weeks, and you will be compensated with a $50.00 Amazon gift card for your time.
You can reach the study team by email at trials@cionic.com.
